While organizing his debut recording for OA2 Records, pianist Rich Pellegrin had specific ideas for his accompanying musicians and their approach to his musical concepts. Wanting artists who were drawn to density, complexity, and virtuosity, but who were equally fascinated by simplicity, repetition, and groove, he created a collaborative environment with powerful personalities who would each bring a different perspective to the ensemble, ensuring that the band would never become too comfortable. With great dynamic tension and eclectic sensibilities, the Seattle-based band creates an album of cohesive, forward-looking original music.
