"Yal Menfi" is a reprise in dialectal Arabic of an old Kabyle exile song composed in the aftermath of the 1871 uprising and the final verdict: the deportation to New Caledonia of most of the leaders. "Yal Menfi" (the exile or the banished) evokes the suffering endured by Algerian immigrants of all times. This song is a standard by Akli Yahiaten and a cover by Rachid Taha.
